Safely crossing the treacherous Wide Bay Bar & sailing into the Double Island Point Lagoon. - Ep 46

In this video we cross some of the most dangerous waters in Queensland, the Wide Bay Bar, but not before waiting for the right weather conditions, consulting the Tin Can Bay Volunteer Coast Guard and taking all the sensible safety precautions. Then we sail across the bay to one of mother nature’s great playgrounds at Double Island Point where we are able to anchor in totally protected, crystal clear waters and have some fun.

We never under estimate a bar crossing and came across a few large swells

All crew in live jackets and harnessed on in the cockpit for the crossing.

Once over the Wide Bay Bar we enjoyed a nice sail to Double Island Point.

Double Island Point was a playground for all the crew

Double Island Point is now a glorious spot to anchor behind a large sand bar

It was nice to have a designated driver back to the boat after sundowners.

Hiding from 60 Knot winds in the Great Sandy Straights - Episode 45

On Our Dreamtime we enjoy a fantastic spinnaker run down the inside of K’Gari (Fraser Island) while water bombing aircraft fly over head battling huge fires ashore. After a stop in Gary’s Anchorage in the Great Sandy Straits to shelter from some strong northerlies, we venture into Tin Can Bay for an up close and personal encounter with wild dolphins. Then it’s back to Gary’s Anchorage for some fishing, crabbing and socialising with other cruisers before we hunker down as an extreme weather system delivers 60 knot winds and 10 metre seas to the South Queensland coast.

We found Paradise – anchored at K’Gari, the world’s largest sand island - Episode 44

Join us as we sail across Hervey Bay from Burnett Heads in company with buddy boats Whoosh and Velindra to anchor off Wathumba Creek on K’Gari, the indigenous name of Fraser Island, where we discover paradise. Powdery white sand beaches lapped by crystal clear turquoise waters stretch for kilometres providing the perfect playground for a couple of days fun and relaxation. With the wind direction changing, we then move down the island to another great anchorage at Moon Point.
