Rob and Karen Oberg spent a year and 7,200 nautical miles crewing on other people's boats in SE Asia and Europe before cruising the Med for 2 seasons with crewmate, Marc Beerts, on a Jeanneau 43 DS, Alcheringa (Alcheringa is an Australian Aboriginal word meaning 'The Dreamtime'). On returning to Australia they acquired a Whitby 42 ketch, renamed her 'Our Dreamtime' and now cruise Australia's Great Barrier Reef and soon the Western Pacific and SE Asia. Total sea miles to date = 18,059 NM.
The Best of the Whitsundays - A sailing odyssey in 20 minutes
This time on Dreamtime Sail we leave stunning Bait Reef to sail our Whitby 42 ketch to some of the Whitsunday Islands most beautiful locations starting with Langford Reef off Hayman Island. We spend a tranquil night on a mooring at Stonehaven on Hook Island before making our way to Tongue Bay and the truly awe inspiring Hill Inlet on Whitsunday Island.
After a pleasant downwind sail along the island’s gleaming silica sand lined shore, we discover the outstanding anchorage at Chances Bay and make the trek up to the lookouts and across the island to the world famous Whitehaven Beach.
Along the way we sail with SV Velindra and come across @Sailing SV No Regrets in the Hook Passage.
It’s tropical sailing odyssey in twenty minutes.
